Georgios Gatopoulos is the Head of Macro and Financial studies at the Foundation for Economic and Industrial Research (IOBE), a Greece-based economics thinktank promoting evidence-based policy. He is also an instructor at the American College of Greece. Prior to joining IOBE, he worked as an economist for the IMF Res Rep office in Greece, in the context of the largest bailout program ever implemented. He holds a PhD in international finance from the University of Geneva and an MSc from the LSE. He has published in peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of International Money and Finance, CESifo Economic Studies, Fiscal Studies and European Research Studies. His contributions have been published in various collective volumes by the IMF, the EC, the OECD, and the Bank of Greece in the areas of financial systems, EU financing instruments, pension systems and labor markets.
