Mai Dao is the Assistant to the Director at the Research Department of the IMF. In previous roles, she was a senior economist in the Open Economy Macroeconomics division, which develops the External Balance Assessment model and produces the External Sector Report. She also worked at the IMF’s European Department, covering Germany, Spain and Cyprus. Her research interests are international macroeconomics, finance and labour economics. She holds a PhD in Economics from Columbia University.
